Ruger Pistol magazines

How to determine if your pistol needs the retrofit: All LCP pistols bearing prefix “Ruger Pistol magazine” (that is, serial number 370-xxxxx) may be affected. Newly manufactured and retrofitted “370” prefix LCP pistols with the new hammer mechanism installed have been marked with a diamond in the flat portion of the slot just behind and below the hammer as show to the right. Going forward, new pistols will be marked with the serial number prefix “371” (serial number 371-xxxxx). Pistols with the “Ruger Pistol magazines” prefix are not affected.

Pistol Holsters

Actually wraping the pistol Blackhawk Holster in a plastic bag and wetting down the inside of the holster does work. Keep the pistol in the Safariland Holsters till it dries. I took a very well made Pocket Holster made for High Power fit a 1911 Commander like a glove.

I just bought a Galco Cop Slide and the leather is pretty stiff and it is hard to pull out the weapon. What is a good way to break in the Pistol Magazines?

miltsparks recommends the plastic around the Pistol Holsters method (no water). it worked with my Safariland Holster––it’s just enough to loosen new leather.

Lawmakers are debating legislation that would make sure gun owners can’t be prosecuted for showing a weapon to warn someone who is threatening them. HB78 modifies existing law that bans threatening someone with a dangerous weapon in a fight or quarrel. The proposal would exempt from that prohibition anyone who displays a weapon or claims to be carrying one as a self defense measure.

beretta mini-cougar magazines

Like JohnStoner, I have two M9A1s with beretta mini-cougar magazines. Accuracy, reliability, and totally dependable in all weather- snow, rain, dry, heat and dust- whatever, NEVER a problem. About 4,500 rounds fired between the two of them. I’ve retired my Kimber 1911s, in favor of my Berettas. The Kimbers are strictly for loan WHEN TSHTF… The M9A1 is my "go to" handgun, and unlikely to change.

Yeah, you want two. One for each hand. That gives you forty-two shots before reloading, and two different direcions to shoot… Easy with a 9mm, but try it sometime with a pair of 9.5" Ruger Super Redhawks! I have, but I’ll stick with the M9A1’s, thanks… In all seriousness, the 9mm with the proper ammo, AND proper placement, is just as well going to take-out the trash, as my dusty Kimber Beretta 92 Magazine. I won’t change back- no reason to.

Nope, the M9A1 is the choice of the Marine Embassy Security Details, and my choice as well… So too, are the Mec-Gar 20rd Anti-Friction Coated magazines, and the Pro-Mag 33rd Beretta 21Magazines, though I load only 32 in mine… Both magazines fit both of my CX4 Storms perfectly…

rparrish, I use Gold Dots, both 124gr and 147gr, and know that whatever I hit, is going to go d-o-w-n… Having 21 rounds in either gun, makes for a warm feeling… I can’t really imagine a "real life" scenario for using 32rd magazines, but WHEN the SHTF, who knows? Having interchangable magazines with the CX4s, is a "good" thing…

To those who would try to compare the 1911 to the M9A1, I’d say, "beretta mini-cougar magazines, to yah, Buddy!" and "Why have only 11, with a Chip McCormick mag, when you can have 21?" Nah, that’d be petty. As I say, mine, my Kimber 1911s are now for loan-out when the SHTF… My best, I’m keeping for myself…

Cowboy Holsters

User Info IM User Email User Reply Quote Report

No more fobus for me. This is the second time I’ve had problems with their design. I was using the recalled roto holster with the hard plastic strap on my Glock cowboy holsters with M3 light on a warrant service. Had the guy on the ground and started to Blackhawk Holster. At the last minute I noticed that hard plastic thumb break had slipped into the trigger guard. I almost shot a hole in my leg. Got the replacement holster and it has worked fine.

Today I picked up a new fobus revolution Handgun Holsters for my Kimber. I get it home and try it out. The Kimber slid in with a loud click and it was in there for good. I couldn’t get it back out. The instructions say you have pull it straight up with force. Well that’s no good for anyone in a dangerous situation where a quiet and slow draw may be necessary. The Fobus guys just don’t think things through. Oh and I couldn’t get the Kimber out till I loosened the tension screw so much till the gun Holsters just slid out without any resistance. Back to the gun shop it goes.

Ah, whatever. I’m just annoyed that I had to spend ammo money on another holster. I’ll get over it…

rtunately had problems with ripping the rivets out of the plastic. Also have one of the recalled Handgun Holster and contacted Fobus holster about a replacement, but never received a replacement holster.

Sig sauer magazines

I’m not real happy right now. I literally just walked in the door from the range. Out of 102 rounds I fired with my new Sig sauer magazines I had 96 failures to extract.

I was shooting S&B and my carry load. Both had FTEx. The pistol was also dropping the brass from the last round in a magazine and leaving the brass resting on top of the empty mag.

Pistol was cleaned and lubed before heading out. I soaked the extractor in CLP at the range and cleaned it there. That didn’t make any difference in the frequency of FTEx.

This is a real disappointment for me. I really, really like the way the P250 feels and points. The trigger was fine and for the 6 times the pistol actually functioned as a auto-loader follow-up shots seemed to be fast. I was hoping that this was going to be my new carry pistol, but that isn’t going to happen until it’s fixed.

Obviously, I’ll be calling Sig sauer magazine tomorrow and sending it back to them for repair/replacement.

Eotech

FWIW, Van, I talked to Russ McCallester (his phone number is listed under "Contacts" on EOTech’s site), a factory contact a couple of weeks ago. He answered the first time I called. I had similar questions, more related to a magnifier mount that would line up behind a 512 and still clear a BUIS (Troy). I have a LaRue upper, and the 512 will mount farther forward because the quad rail doesn’t stick up as high as your handguard. Russ told me to keep an eye on EOTech site in 2009. He couldn’t tell me anymore, but that leads me to believe that there are more mounting options coming for magnifiers and holosights. Maybe I just got lucky that Russ was near his phone when I called, buy you gotta remember that since November 4th, everyone in the firearms and accessories industry is extremely busy. They’re burning it at both ends. Heck, you mentioned LaRue’s legendary customer service. It’s still great, but 6 months ago I could call up with an order or a question and have a 5-minute BS session with whoever answered the phone. Now they don’t have time for that, because they’ve got a million other things to do. Just bear in mind that all these guys are working hard to make sure that we’re getting what we want, but there are only so many hours in the day.

Pistol Magazines

Most of my shooting Pistol Magazines have been with Glocks. Though I love them, I’m living in Washington now, so I’d like something I can just go up some dirt road and let a few rounds go.

Its just a plinking gun, so cheap ammo is a plus. If I do go with the Pistol Magazine, I’ll probably pick up the Tac65 suppressor to go with it.

Any reason I shouldn’t get one?
Any recommendations on where to order?(not interested in the package with the suppressor, I’ll be picking up the suppressor a little later)
Good recommendations on ammo? I hear the CCI High Velocity work well, and are cheap.
Is getting the laser worth it? Can it be seen during the day?

Rifle Scopes

In my opinion, you would have to really NEED *that reticle*
to justify the extra cost for just an OK piece of glass that typically
runs $260.00

Having owned and sold 2 DMS 1’s and a CRS, let me point out a few critical differences aside from just the reticule. Although made by Millet Rifle Scopes and housed in a DMS body, the CRS is an FFP scope so the ranging and BDC Rifle Scopes works at any magnification, the size of the reticule adjusting accordingly.
It has a much bigger eyebox and better eye relief than the DMS 1, again by virtue of it’s FFP design. I got rid of my DMS’s ) because it felt as though if i moved my eye 1/4" in any direction off centerline to the scope it would black out. The result was slower on target times with the DMS than the rifle scope. ( and i do have a very consistant cheekweld, thankyou )
This made it more effective as a red dot-ish scope at 1X on targets more than 10 ft away than the DMS. At 4X the reticule comes into it’s own, the ranging and BD adjustments are incredibly intuitive.

Although they were made by Millet , Ed is a stand up American who’s trying to realise his dream. Read the whole thread referenced above for some insight.

Glock 17 magazines

MO ,Just more complexity to potentialy cause problems, loose pins etc.

Besides, how could Glock 17 magazines do this without closing off the backstrap channel?Everyone knows that must remain open in order for a Glock to function properly!

If glock wants to follow the lead of other manufacturers, whose current designs more than likely will not even be on the market in ten years ,I think it would be a mistake!

If you cannot adjust to the Glock 17 magazine ergos the way they are ,you have lots of other choices.

Rifle Scopes

I ‘m in total agreement with you about not having this scope made in China Rifle Scopes. I’m a firefighter, I don’t build scopes. It was never my intention to go thru all the time money and frustration Ive been thru in trying to get this reticle into a good quality scope. I have offered to license this reticle to just about every one of the scope manufactures that make good quality tactical scopes. All of them, I say again all of them have turned my offer down. Even Millett was not interested in marketing the CRS under their company. Instead Millett Rifle scopes took the concept of the CRS and sold it as the rfp circle dot DMS-1.
US Optics could have made the 1×4 or 1.5×6 version of the CRS but I wasn’t satisfied with their illumination system plus a couple of other factors kept me from going with them.

kpel308,

Got any salt?

The Fobus HK1 for my USPc .45 doesn’t hold the gun securely. Every other Fobus I’ve used held the gun positively against negative G; IOW, if you fell on your back, etc, the gun would stay put. A determined tug was necessary to release it.

Not this one; you can now ease the gun out with two fingers on the butt. Obviously, that’s a no-go. The first few days it was fine; perhaps something is wrong with it, after a couple of hundred presentations. Oh, well…

I ordered a Kramer this afternoon.

BTW, I’ve been toting for 28 years; 226 days till retirement. I’ve come full circle: from using "common" Leather Holsters as a rookie, to discovering custom stuff, then the Fobus, and now back to custom.

And THAT Pistol Magazine about the best summation of the situation I’ve ever read. Good post, Barry.

I realize I’m digging up a corpse that is better left buried, but all the "experts" on these boards just wear me out at times. I’ve carried a G19 in a Fobus GL2 professionally for over seven years. I’ve snagged it on door cowboy holster, car doors, etc., numerous times; it is still quite serviceable, thank you.
